Magic Show Continues Through August 28th

The Outer Banks is known for its magic - the magical landscapes, sunrises and sunsets, the magical memories made by our guests who visit our beach community each year. But this year, there is a new type of magic on the Outer Banks. . . OBXtreme Magic.

Audiences this summer have been delighted with the Outer Banks' newest magic and illusion show at the Clarion Oceanfront Hotel in Kill Devil Hills. OBXtreme Magic features Clive and Tracy Housley in mind reading card tricks, floating illusions, quick clothes changing acts and unbelievable tricks.

Three shows are performed Wednesdays and Thursdays weekly until August 28, 2008 (except the week of August 4-8, 2008 when the show will be held on Thursday, August 7 & Friday August 8th. Same times - 4, 7 & 10 pm) . The 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm showtimes are family friendly and feature mind-blowing illusions, unforgettable magic and comedy audience participation. Watch an audience member float, see things disappear, watch Tracy escape from a straightjacket, and learn a few tricks to show your family and friends. Tickets for the family show are $13 for children, $20 for adults and $18 for Senior Citizens.

The 10:00 pm show is for adults 18 years of age or older. Specifically aimed at a more mature audience, this version of the show features suggestive comedy, bizarre side show acts, card tricks, and mind-blowing illusions. Tickets for the Mad Jack adult show are $25.

Clive Allen & Tracy Housely take their audience through a roller coaster ride of emotions with their incredible talent and sincere performing style. They have entertained audiences around the world and have been seen on both U.S. and international television. They have appeared at The Emmy Awards, Ceasar's Resorts International, Resorts USA, and were selected as one of the top ten magicians from the U.S. and Canada to perform at Magicfest 2000 in Singapore, the largest magic production in that country! Clive Allen and Tracy are from Pennsylvania but are enjoying their summer stay on the Outer Banks.

I have not had the pleasure of working with Christine on a daily basis but she has been a lifesaver more than once to our Corolla office. If we were ever understaffed, she would come on up and help us at our front desk without question or reservation. She has visited our area and has visited many of our homes wanting to know more about them so that she could accurately portray them to those potential guests for Corolla. I too have witnessed her unwavering nature as she has politely greeted a guest or owner regarding a more serious matter. She is willing to tackle anything and will do so with the utmost level of professionalism. We too are proud to have her on our team as she is willing to do what it takes to provide a win/win situation for guests, owners and co-workers. THANKS CHRISTINE!

Even a bad weather day is a good day on the Outer Banks!

Nice motels......not too expensive.....there are some but I need a few more details like what area do you want to be in (Nags Head, Corolla, Kitty Hawk?) and what type of room you need......is it for a couple or for couple with a child or children?

Many of the vacation homes allow 3 night rentals and that might be a less expensive way to go, since you will have a full kitchen and do not have to eat out. If you have some flexibility on the area, for example you are happy to stay on the sound side of the island or even a few blocks away from the ocean, that will also help with the costs. During the summer months, when all the hotels have peak rates, you honestly might pay less by renting a home.......look at the websites for those offers.

Another suggestion would be a Bed and Breakfast because, hey, breakfast is included and some of them also have flexibility with rates.

I used to work for a major hotel chain and one thing I learned was you always CALL the hotel (or the B & B or the vacation rental company for that matter) directly and ask (politely) for a discount if one is not posted. Never hurts to ask.

Seriously, been down there once and loved it! Want to come down again soon for a few days. Does anyone have an idea where a *very* inexpensive, clean motel would be? Gonna drive this time. egh... flew from Philly last time cuz i was too scared of driving over/under the water... will bite the bullet this time.

I lived in Alabama for 6 years and one of the things I miss most about it is the thunderstorms at tornadoes. There is something that feels thoroughlly otherworldly about sitting curled up in your bed during a thunderstorm with a book, listening to the rain drumming against the walls and windows.
